5.5 COVID-19 & Pandemic Preparedness Protocols

The New Baseline for International Medical Travel

While acute COVID-19 restrictions have eased, the legacy is a permanently heightened state of infectious disease preparedness in Chinese hospitals. Protocols are strict and non-negotiable.

Current Standard Requirements (Subject to Change):

  1. Pre-Arrival Testing: Although mandatory PCR tests for entry are gone, hospitals commonly require a negative antigen test within 24 hours of any non-emergency admission or outpatient procedure. Confirm with your IPD.

  2. Hospital Entry Screening: Temperature checks and health code scans (via WeChat/ Alipay) are routine at all hospital entrances. You may be asked to complete an epidemiological questionnaire.
